My favorite! Half way through I thought that maybe I should have bought black and white striped fabric, but As I start to play with varying the stripe size, I like the irregular lines.

The Circus Trip
The Circus Trip is technically a collaboration between my husband and I, but I have a hard time think about it like that. So much of myself goes into making a quilt. He had a sketch that I worked from. I altered it, and the amount of work it takes to sew a quilt top,Continue reading “The Circus Trip”
Rex Burned His Fancy Pants
I learn from every quilt I make. I think of this quilt as my breakthrough quilt. This started out as a star of Bethlehem quilt. It looked boring. I wasn’t happy with how it was going. I cut up the parts I had finished, sewed on new portions, and scraps. Diamonds came alive. I feelContinue reading “Rex Burned His Fancy Pants”
Baby Baby
Finally finished something. Hopefully I will be finishing up two more in the next few weeks.
White Wedding
I almost cut up this quilt top, and started over. I wanted to add more color. I was only half way through, and wasn’t used to working without color. Because of the encouragement of a friend, I decided to keep going. I like it so much more now. There are touches of light colors, butContinue reading “White Wedding”
Finished
I started this quilt with the idea of large irregular rectangle shapes. That idea morphed into large red circles with a white background. That morphed into using what I had to make something between the two ideas. I can’t remember how I ended up with stripes, but I got into it. I’m not the quilterContinue reading “Finished”
I’ve got a beginning, but no end.
I’ve started using Instagram. I’m following several quilters. Others seem to make so many things so quickly. I have three quilts in progress. All three will take me a good while to finish. I feel like my blog works best when I reach milestones. When I have long patches of time without reaching an interestingContinue reading “I’ve got a beginning, but no end.”
Sew Corner
My sewing corner is feeling more like a special place. I had a quilt top that belonged to my husband’s granny on the wall. It was covering up a wall that needed to be painted. It never really looked that great. As time passed it started to look worse than the wall. I painted theContinue reading “Sew Corner”
I finished Jolene, and she is for sale.
When I first decided that I would try to sell Jolene, I thought maybe $500.00. As I continued to hand appliquéd the price went up. I feel $700.00 is a good price for this lovely lady. She is a real heirloom. Jolene has lots of love sewn into her many colors. She fits over theContinue reading “I finished Jolene, and she is for sale.”
Appliqué Flower
Normally I find hand appliqué to be easy. This time I had a bit of a struggle with my first attempt at the leaves. I’m happier with the second time around. It may need one more leaf. I’ll wait till I finish the second flower.
